The ' TOP 10 International Master's Degree Courses Made in Germany ' Quality Label

The Master programme in Information Technology at Hochschule Mannheim - Mannheim University of Applied Sciences was presented this >> award by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and the Donors' Association for the Promotion of Science and Humanities in Germany in 2006.

The first nationwide competition to select the 10 best Master degree courses was announced in Spring 2006, with over 120 entries from 77 universities all around the country. The jury was composed of independent representatives from universities in Germany and abroad as well as from industry.

Since then, there has been only one programme in engineering sciences among the prize-winners: Information Technology at Hochschule Mannheim.

The main criteria for the award are:

  an innovative concept

  quality of >> teaching

  strong >> international orientation

 stringent quality control measures

 detailed assessment and student support concepts

 impressive >> graduation results and a low drop-out rate

In addition, the sponsors commended the Information Technology programme for its >> orientation to the professional market.

This award is recognition of a unique but successful concept, an international postgraduate engineering programme using German as the medium of tuition with half the student body foreign and half German.

Not only should the members of faculty, but also the students be credited for this success.

 

The successful programmes are highlighted in the worldwide >> information campaigns.

 

The award was presented on 1st December 2006 in Berlin at the House of the German Business.

The former University President, Professor D. v. Hoyningen-Huene, the Master programme Director, Professor A. Zwick and the Coordinator for Foreign Students, Ms Mateos Ortega received not only the >> official certificate but also >> €20,000 to be spent for the benefit to the students.
